I would easily give this place more stars if the quality of the food compared to the expensive prices - but there's things they could work on. I will say the service there is nothing short of excellent. Our server, Shana, was an absolute delight. The appetizers - risotto balls and truffle fries were both exceptional. I ordered the lamb Bolognese and I was disappointed in the lack of herbs and spices on the lamb. It needed cinnamon, badly... Overall, nice. Atmosphere is eclectic - good to go on a Tuesday night when it wasn't very busy. We sat inside but there was some really nice outdoor covered seating. Probably won't go back - because of the prices - but a nice place to try out.

Had Sunday breakfast here. Amazing food and service. Fresh fruit is hand picked, and the veggie omlete surpringly good. Dawn was a fantastic server. Highly recommended.

This was a very hard review for me to write as I had excellent service, enjoyed the decor, and appreciated how hard the staff worked to make us comfortable. If everything was based on the service, decor, and bread basket you'd have yourself a 5 star review. However, the food here made everyone in my dining party so sick that I'm worried about the safety of the restaurant. We ate there for lunch and ordered the lamb bolognese, a beef tip pasta (special of the day, and a hash. Everything tasted very rich and was a bit oily; I made sure to limit my portion to an incredibly small amount due to this. The flavors were good, we all liked how it tasted, but I don't think it's a coincidence that not even 30 minutes after eating here all three people in our party felt sick. So sick in fact that we all went home early and all three of us felt queasy with upset stomachs the entire weekend. With high prices, small portions, and food that made me ill I think I'll be staying away from here.

I am stuck between 3 and 4 stars. We got here early and got a table. Show up at 6 and prepare for a wait. Other patrons were all over the place. Old young hip artsey strange ... jeans and running pants to sport coat and tie. People don't know what to wear. Ambience was good. Table cloths and dark walls. Reminds me of eating in a den. Food was a little overpriced and was just okay. We didn't get a rundown of the specials although there was a board up front. Burgers pasta soup salad .... typical American fare. Husband's burger ($15) was very undercooked. Fries were good. My salad was just okay once I pulled all the stuff I don't like off. The thing that annoyed me is the waiter talked me into getting just plain fries but charged me $9 for the truffle variety. I would not go back.

I shouldn't tell. This place is great. Smaller intimate and charming The halibut was as fresh as when I am in Florida. The pork chop was well delicious. The maple wood infusion was so spot on. The server was friendly and knew his wine list. Don't go here. Save a table for me.

It's official, I am cutting my losses when it comes to going to Bill's. I went here again for lunch and ordered the french dip and fries. The fries seemed old and stuck together and the french dip was more like something that you would expect from some up north Lodge trying to have an extensive menu. Furthermore, it was served without the au jus sauce, it's the second part of the dish, french dip, one cannot dip without the dip. Plus the meat seemed dry and bland, not what you should experience for the price. The server was pleasant and kept my water filled to the brim.

This restaurant is located on the site of the old Bloomfield Hills landmark The Fox and Hounds. They have done an amazing job of preserving the heritage of the area. I was here for Sunday breakfast and had Bill's Breakfast. Everything was prepared to my request and the coffee was great! Our server was also excellent and very knowledgeable! This may be my new favorite Sunday breakfast spot!

This soulless restaurant has clearly lost its way. The menu is a confusing mess of strange combinations. The hamburger seems non-controversial until it appears on your plate all alone on a store-bought bun. Forget that you ordered it medium or rare or well done. It is a roll of the dice. Fully dressed means a little little wilted arugula plus a couple of small pieces of overcooked onion. Partition dividers are covered with dust where surfaces are normally untouched. The very nice waitress seemed totally clueless as to why I stared at the plate with a strange expression on my face. Bills's burger: A hunk of ground beef placed on top of a store-bought bun

The Staff was friendly and greatest us properly. I have to say, I took my brother with me and I was worried he wouldn't like it but he ate everything I ordered for him and myself! The apps were amazing and so was dinner I had the pork chop and my brother had the lamb pasta! I tried his and he are most of mine, but at any rate it was great! I truly recommend this place to anyone in the area it truly is a new gem that I will be stopping in at to get great food.

This is such a nice find. I did not expect to dine in Bloomfield at a high quality restaurant with a bar tender that really knows how to tend. The chicken is so moist. The drinks were perfect. The pork chop was spectacular. Service with a smile made the night fly by.

Located on the southeast corner of Woodward and Long Lake, Bill's is marked by a large black entrance awning bearing the restaurant's name in stylized script. The restaurant has a fairly small dining room, similar to other restaurants owned by the Roberts Restaurant Group, and has the feel of a traditional den. Filled with dark wood, mounted deer and elk heads, portraits, sketches and caricatures, and many, many steering wheels cover an entire wall. A humongous brass chandelier dominates the back of the room and etched glass separates the dining room from the bar. Servers sport prep-school ties. Gershwin and Patsy Cline add to the overall ambiance. What stood out was the incredibly creative menu. I got a chance to sample the escargot stuffed into mushroom caps and served in garlic butter sauce with toasted baguette spears. As well, I also tasted the slightly sweet figs baked with Roquefort cheese, chopped pistachios, and finished with a drizzle of honey and vinegar. While the latter dish was tiny, think appetizer to the appetizer, it was such a wonderful combination of distinctive flavors that I recommend it wholeheartedly. As entrée, I enjoyed fresh, tender fettuccine in a deliciously creamy carbonara sauce that included crab, pancetta, and peas. A fried egg, when pierced, added richness to the carbonara sauce. For dessert, the Baked Alaska sounded intriguing. I've seen the dessert in old-school cookbooks but never on a menu - and definitely not featuring coconut ice cream with a pineapple sauce. I am so glad that I had a chance to taste the yellow cake topped with an ice cream that was torched and featured shredded coconut. The sauce was tart and bright. What a treat - and perfect for two. The server was friendly and helpful.

We've only eaten at the bar a few times. The food has been great across the board. burger and fries, cheese stuffed dates and risotto balls stand out so far. excellent nice cocktails and wine list nice service very attentive management that listens to feedback there is no secret to the success of this restaurant chain. great food, nice people and good value for money this restaurant is only about 7 million light years better than it's previous occupant , the fox dungeon a very welcome addition to the neighborhood.

It's easy to become intoxicated here - both literally and metaphorically. It's a remarkably beautiful space, cozy, welcoming, bustling (even on a recent Wednesday night). Pulled up a seat at the bar and ordered the frog's legs, grilled shrimp Caesar and the baked Alaska to top things off. Frog legs were frog legs. Tasty and perfectly fried. Salad came out with perfectly grilled shrimp and the most perfect pile of baby kale/lettuces I've ever seen. Seriously, I want to know where and how they came across these greens. Slight issue being that even for a guy who likes his greens only moderately dressed, these failed to meet that mark. There also seemed to be a noticeable lack of cheese and croutons for a Caesar salad, basically rendering it a huge pile of immaculate minimally dressed greens. But my, were they good. Baked Alaska came out as requested. Grabbed two cocktails from the extremely professional staff. Strong and good. Overall, not the greatest, most unique food in the world (although certainly well above average), but maybe it was the lighting, or the décor, or the flawless service, or the potent libations, or being surrounded by untold wealth, but I left just feeling good.

I don't know who put this Yelp site up for Bill's in the first place but they have some wrong info. First, The restaurant is French and Italian fare. Second, they open at 7am Monday through Friday for breakfast and 8am Saturday and Sunday for Brunch. Ate here last Thursday, had to wait about 45 minutes for a table, they do not take reservations however it was worth the wait. They have an excellent bar staff with a very wide choice of cocktails, craft cocktails and other spirits. The food was wonderful. All of us got something different, chicken, pork, steak and pasta. We were all very happy. It is a bit loud but has an interesting decor that will keep your eyes busy. It reminds me of a late 19th century men's club. Check Bill's out for breakfast and dinner!

Was looking for a place to eat after stopping at Somerset. Do not make it to this side of town often and remembered that this place had just opened. It was a Monday evening around 8:00pm and we seated quickly in a nice raised up booth. The decor was inviting, cool things hanging on the walls, a glass separating the booths that allowed light but still provided privacy. There was a giant chandelier that was pretty cool looking although you might be a bit nervous sitting under it :) We just ordered entrees and both were done perfect. Got the NY Strip Au Poivre and the King Crab Carbonara(which was especially good and would probably order it again as opposed to trying something else). But there are a lot of other cool items and will probably have to go a few more times. Service was quick, friendly and unobtrusive which is a good thing. If you are in the area you should give it a shot. Really more of a 3.5 star place. Best regards, Tony

Our experience here boiled down to this: very tasty food, very poor service. We arrived on a Monday night around 7:45, knowing we were hitting the end of the dinner rush, and we were okay with that, planning to have a drink or two at the bar until our table was ready. After shouting (yes, shouting, this place is LOUD!) my drink order to the husband, off he went to the bar which was staffed by three individuals. He waited patiently but expectantly (payment in hand, trying to make eye contact) and when one of the bartenders finally deigned to acknowledge him, he made eye contact with my husband....then promptly ignored him, reaching over his shoulder to take the credit card some entitled trash immediately shoved within inches of his face. We almost walked out at that point. We did end up staying, and although the food was pretty good, the service never got better. We had to ask and then wait for everything...another drink, water, appetizer, entree, everything. Finally after waiting with empty plates and glasses for almost ten minutes without a check-in, my husband had to go up to the hostess and ask for our check, since we didn't feel like spending the night there. It's a shame, but between the LOUD atmosphere, horrible service and elbow-to-elbow dining experience, we definitely won't be back.

We came here for brunch and enjoyed wonderful food with excellent service. I ordered the crab omelette with red pepper and asparagus. It was served with fresh fruit and an english muffin. Everything was delicious.

This restaurant is located where the old Bloomfield Hills landmark The Fox and Hounds used to live. The area is quite charming. We popped in on a busy Saturday night and braved the crowd. The waitstaff was very attentive making sure we were comfortable and were offered a cocktail during the wait. The ambiance of the restaurant makes it feel as if it's been there forever. The menu choices not common, but offered classic fare. I really enjoyed my swordfish and my husband was happy with his meal too. Our server was also excellent and very knowledgeable! I really enjoyed him - he really, really knew his wine. The crowd seemed to be made up of local residents out for a meal with dear friends. There were a lot of larger parties enjoying dinner together. We'll be back. I'm excited to try brunch - Bill Robert's always knocks this outta the ballpark!

This place is fantastic. The food is great, the staff is absolutely amazing (friendly and knowledgeable). As a New Englander, I have always had trouble with the lack of quality restaurants in Michigan. I have tried several of the restaurants in this family (Roadside, Beverly Hills Grill) and they're all really good. If you go during lunch or for happy hour, sit at the bar which is usually busy and ask for Jane. Jane is a no nonsense bartender who is so excellent at what she does she has a cult following. You don't want to miss this relatively new addition to the Oakland County dining scene.

Being a newest restaurant in my small hometown, we had to give this a try. My dining partner had been here before, but this was my first time. For starter salads we had the kake Caesar salad, and the roasted beet with burrata. For entrees I ordered the burger with Roquefort, port onions, and hand-cut fries; the other diner had the Berkshire pork chop. Both salads were good - the beet and burrata being the standout due to the nice gooey and substantial serving of burrata. Burger was 4.5/5, juicy, flavorful and cooked a nice medium as I had asked. The bun was soft and delicious, exactly how I wanted it. The loss of 1/2 star was because the burger could have been charred a bit more on the outside; really a minor complaint. The best thing we ate all night was the pork chop. 5/5 best pork chop I have ever eaten (well, only tasted), and I have eaten a lot of pork chops in my time. Nice brine, perfect grilling, really something that makes Bill's a destination restaurant. Dessert was a limoncello panna cotta with blueberry compote. 3.5/5. The panna cotta itself was a bit dense, and was maybe over-thickened, but the dessert was saved by the bright and flavorful compote. Forgettable dessert, but the meal was already memorable before that. Service by Shelly(sp?) was on point. Friendly, attentive, and an overall professionalism that I truly was expecting, but don't usually get. She was simply awesome. Two excellent Robert's restaurants now in the Bloomfield Hills area. What a nice, nice experience. We will be back!

I came here for an anniversary dinner with my partner. It was January. There was a wait but there is very limited space inside the foyer. Luckily, they heated an outside tented area which we really appreciated. The food and service were excellent. The vibe is energetic but a bit loud. It's a see-and-be-seen venue for the Birmingham/Bloomfield set, but if you can deal with that, still a great place to relax for dinner with friends.

Decor was nice, well lit and the hostesses were welcoming. Ordered a bottle of The Mutt - Hoopla Cabernet Sauvignon, Caviar Pie, Oysters, Pistou Soup, Meatballs w/ Polenta, Grilled Swordfish, and the Salted Carmel Gelato. Everything was good, fresh West Coast Oysters were fantastic, Meatballs were legit and overall some of the best in town. The only negative would be on the caviar pie, flavors were great, but I'd rather have a smaller over all portion for MORE CAVIAR. Our server was Lindsay, and she was one of the best servers we've experienced in a while. Smiling, friendly, knowledgeable of menu as well as the wine list, and kept both water & wine glasses filled during a busy night. Bill's is a great addition to the area and another winner from the Roberts Restaurant Group.

Great food and great service. This was my second time here in a few weeks. The mussels and pasta bolognese are excellent. The steak was ok. We were four people and wanted to share meals to get a taste of everything. The chef split our meal four ways with very generous portions. Very nice restaurant with an eclectic decor.

A friend and I had lunch at Bill's on a Monday. We arrived around 12:45 and had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. If you are having lunch in the 12-1 time frame, I would recommend make a reservation. We split the Roquefort Stuffed Figs and Piedmontese Carpaccio for appetizer. My friend ordered a special of the day - a King Crab, Spinach Omelet. I ordered the Meatballs. All of the food was excellent, but the meatballs were fantastic! They came on a creamy bed of polenta with delicious toppings of basil marinara and ricotta. Prices are about as expected. Service was pretty good. The only demerit on service is that our waiter took a very long time to bring our bills back after paying.

I am so happy this restaurant switched from Fox Grill to Bill's! The ambiance and decor is awesome. I felt like I was eating a delicious dinner in a mansion's library or someone's grandfather's den (in a good way). I got the escargot and it didn't disappoint. My friend got the croque Madame and, wow, was it cheesy. It looked sinfully good.

My family and I went here for brunch/breakfast a month ago. I had the King crab benedict. It was AMAZING. I also had a bloody mary, which was the best I've EVER had. My siblings had burgers and loved them. My dad ordered the egg white frittata, which was excellent. Our waiter was very attentive as well. I cannot wait until I am back home because I will definitely be heading here again!

Pros: Excellent "Social Hour" mussels, friendly (though semi-inept) service, lots of parking and decent prices during the 3-hour Social Hour Mon-Fri. Cons: Very small and crowded, overpriced, strange décor and semi-inept (but enthusiastic) service. This could be a "locals place" if you lived close by, but that's about it.

3 couples for lunch and we were not impressed. We frequent other Roberts restaurants, in comparison this one disappoints. Food: Pasta Bolognese was very good as was the Crock Madame. The Manhattan chowder was noticiably salty and plain, more like a hot gazpacho, not a simmered chowder. It had two chunks of fish, perhaps ocean perch, not what you expect from a Roberts kitchen. We ordered kale salads but were served Caesars and these were quite small and plain as you would expect from any dinner. There were bread plates and dipping oil on the table but we had to ask for bread and it came after the soup bowls had been cleared. Service friendly but uneven. Prices are not terribly high, lower than Beverly Hills Grill and M&L but for what we got it seemed a lot. One person at our table remarked "how did run up this tab with such a light and plain lunch?". You get the idea?

The newest star in the Roberts Restaurant Group galaxy is a welcome addition to the Birmingham-Bloomfield dining scene. The menu at Bill's offers a range of options and prices, from simple to more elaborate, modestly priced to higher-end. As with other restaurants under the Group's umbrella, service is smooth and unfailingly attentive. T.J., our server, showed the experience he had gained across the different Roberts establishments: there when needed, then slipping away when our needs were met. We started with the fig/Roquefort appetizer ($9.00): it was very good, but we could have reduced our meal's cost by doing without. My co-diner ordered the burger, which came with hand-cut fries. He pronounced them "excellent." My entree, the lamb Bolognese, had both quantity (just right) and quality: full of flavor, and beautifully seasoned. We gave in to temptation and shared the baked Alaska dessert. Given how rare it is to find this item on a restaurant menu, who could blame us? And we were rewarded with a novel spin on this classic coconut in the meringue, with the dish placed atop a pineapple sauce. Save room for this one. Our dining experience would have been first - rate whenever it occurred. It was made that much more impressive by the fact that this was the first day Bill's was open to the general public. If you crave a trendy establishment with its main focus on cocktails, this may not be your cup of Kir Royale. But if you are looking for tasty and creative cuisine, a welcoming and comfortable ambiance, and great value for your dining dollar, you"ll find it here.

My family and fiancée went here to celebrate and had a just a wonderful evening. It was busy when we went so we had to wait, no biggie. A nice touch though is that a waitress came around and took a drink order while we waited. First I've seen that. We had the risotto balls and escargot to start which were great. The real star was my grilled pork chop. Cooked perfectly and had a real nice pork flavor. I was able to taste the mussels which were very fresh and meatballs in polenta which were amazing. Service was top notch and we had a nice conversation with a manager named Aaron who made sure everything was going well. I will absolutely be coming back!

Should be a favorite of mine, I live in the neighborhood. Food is high quality, cooked right. Service good. Portions are ridiculously small, and prices obscenely high. Looked around and saw a bunch of pretentious types who aren't local. The types who want to see and be seen. I won't be back! I miss the Fox and Hounds! The old Kingsley. Offer people some value!

2nd time in since last summer. The frog legs were great last time, this time they were soggy and greasy. Very disappointing. My partner sent his turkey salad back, because it had some sort of un-identifiable texture, just weird. Service was great, our server was on point and knowledgable.

We are currently dining at this restaurant and it is so bad that I felt compelled to review. First of all the decor is cozy and quaint with a homey feel.....however incredibly loud. The waitress is kind and attentive. The food is not at all flavorful or well executed. The soups (artichoke and split pea) were awful. The kale salad had NO kale at all and the waitress apologized and was confused. The ribeye was just mediocre and at $40 I expected much better quality. The (semi raw) garlic bulb on my plate was microwaved and not roasted as stated. I am so disappointed with our experience. I should say that the oysters are very good!! Bottom line...Country club pricing but basic, non- descript food.
